BPO booster goes national

Fatta was formerly head of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra's Board of Trustees and is currently the board's treasurer. He chaired the orchestra's successful $32 million endowment campaign. That is Fatta pictured at left, addressing the BPO by the side of JoAnn Falletta, music director, in a News file photograph.

Here is an occasion for local symphonic pride: Buffalo's own Angelo Fatta has been appointed to the board of directors of the League of American Orchestras.

Historicallyin the past few years, Symphony journal has been generous in its praise of the BPO, for how our orchestras has handled the challenges all orchestras are facing these days. Ang Fatta's presence on the board could be seen as another sign of the League's esteem for our city.

The League of American Orchestras was founded in 1942 and has a membership of about 900 orchestras from across the country. The group publishes Symphony, an fascinating and colorful journal about not only orchestras but the music business in general. When you get a couple of minutes you may need to take a glance at it online. The fall issue is up there now.

Congratulations to Ang Fatta on his ascent to national prominence!
